Mixed Media Art Expression

My artwork is process based; my feelings and emotions are expressed through art. Color, paint, paper, words, ideas, all put to paper or canvas. The process is what holds value for me. The process of creating is the purpose; not the product or end result. I began as a watercolor artist, but soon morphed into using watercolor inks, India inks and then acrylic mixed media and collage. I love abstract art; the sky’s the limit as far as ways to create.

Oh My I Forgot To Die™

Breast Cancer Art Expression 

This series was created using the same nude (selfie) photo of me, representing not just my vulnerability in being naked, but also that I am still the same ONE person, even after 24 years at war with breast cancer. After more than a decade of Anthem trying to bury me alive in paperwork, I shredded all the “explanation of benefits” statements and used it to create art. Despite all their claim denials and weaseling out of paying for some of my most vital treatments, OH MY I FORGOT TO DIE!

Zentangle My Way™

Zentangle Inspired Art Expression

Zentangle My Way is my most relaxing form of art. The first tangles I made were during a period of great physical pain, in 2016 - waiting to sort out a back surgery. Sitting and working on these intricate drawings, I was totally engrossed in the process and pain was no longer in my awareness. Zentangle is process-based, using repetition of pattern. I like to repurpose my watercolor art, cutting them into squares and drawing late at night or first thing in the morning.
